The protoco steel crab pot is exactly that - it's a simple pot that hits all the right notes. This pot is bulky as it can't be folded, but if prepped ahead on the shore, you can just throw it in when you get to your spot. It holds the bottom and is very productive. It is so heavy and so big that it does drown a turtle. They are a little on the large (unwieldy) side, but they aren't real heavy. It is designed to fall apart after a certain time.

This pot has been a good buy as it is very high quality and easy to get into to bait and retrieve crabs. It's at least 2-3 times heavier than the fold up pots. They won't run into the door, but they'll keep running into the stainless-steel wire mesh.

The promar great pot's superior materials makes sure that it ages well with use. This is a big pot and does not break down. It's great at catching dungeness. The ramp that leads to the swinging door is nice. It's well constructed, and the plastic coating protects the wires from rusting. The Bait lasts longer and as long as you have bait the crab will stay in the trap.

It doesn't fold, so it's taking up a lot of room. It would be much better to rotate the top retrieval access so it spanned across two entrances.

Crab trap is great and works quite well and catchs many crabs. They can easily get out of your pot through the nylon net when you pull the pot out of the water. This 32 " x 12 " pot will collapse to 1.5" tall within seconds. It has a tendency to spring open in rough water. The netting is large enough for dungeness crabs they can throught it and escape. It is incredibly convenient and practical especially when boat and/or stowing space is limited.
