It's propane only for heat, no 120V heating element. They use a check valve for one of two reasons, to act as a back flow preventer to keep hot and cold water separated and to keep rv anti freeze from entering the water heater. It comes with the control board.
This item works fine as a replacement for a current hot water tank. It comes in a very heavy duty cardboard box with good instructions. It has a switch on unit for the electric side and to the gas side there has to be 12 dc on an off switch to run the gas valve and igniter. It will work with any trailer if you have the room.
