The nintendo favorite game has killer features for the price point. This is one of the best games released for the NES and is essential gaming for a Mario fan. It offers a challenge but yet still a simple game to play not like the games of today that require a sixth sense just to walk through it. This game is unlike the first two and can be pleasing. There is also some new game mechanics to master, such as flying, slow-falling with the raccoon tail, and being able to pick up the koopa shells and throw them at enemies.

The graphics and sound are very good but the All-Stars remake and Gameboy Advanced versions are even better despite this game does have it's charms with the chunky pixel 8-bit look and the controls are excellent as well. The music and game mechanics are astounding. This game offers new stuff like power-ups, new moves, new features and 8 rich worlds with many levels to explore. The levels are fun and challenging, but gameplay can get bland, repetetive, and painstakingly long.

Why We Like This:
  • Fast paced and fun, with many fun and interesting themes
  • Replay value is good and the game is well worth replaying
  • A unique and innovative game for it's time

Super Mario 3 Nintendo Classic

The super mario 3 nintendo classic's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. It takes the characters in the Mario universe, adds them to a strange and quirky world, and then takes the gameplay of the first game and absolutely tips it on it's head. It's this type of unique gameplay that makes the game really imaginative and fun. You will come across desert landscapes, ice and snow levels, and more green, tropical style levels (complete with Palm Trees), which generally come with a lot of waterfalls. These include shells, which you throw and jump on top of as they slide across the ground, killing any enemies in their path, stop watches, which you will pull from the ground once you've pulled 5 big vegetables.

There are no fiery power or special suits, but there is a star that requires that you get the right amount of cherries during game play to obtain it. This is all put to good use throughout the game providing interesting obstacles and tasks to complete. This is good for this type of game since there are no difficulties, no extra modes and no 2-player.

Why We Like This:
  • You could also play as either mario, luigi, peach or toad
  • A classic video game for a classic system
  • Very fun, although not incredibly challenging
