The new putty that replaces the old push-pins is superior. The super spirograph is very well-made and has a lot of different Wheels to make some very different designs. While these are made from plastic, and yes they do have some "bend" to them, they hold up nicely. The variety of pieces is fantastic, allowing for all kinds of designs to be made.
