It’s just soft, clear rubber-type material that covers the whole back of the switch with holes for the air vents and multiple grips you can switch out on the back for your hands. If you get the carry case that goes with this it fits perfectly into it without having to remove the cover off the switch. The clear casing does show fingerprints and smudging after a while that will need to be wiped clean somewhat often, where other models are black plastic which do not show and usually do not collect as much smudging.
