Troy Stetina makes beautiful and great book with classic and smartly choosen materials. This is one of those rare ways to teach your self something books that actually teaches you something. The CD is excellent with a wide array of styles from funk, metal, hard rock and 50s rockabilly. If the excellent CD that comes with it has a track with just background and tempo w/o the guitar parts, that would be a nice addition. It's for beginners.

This book is probably geared toward the intermediate and beyond level player. The book keeps you engaged with fun music to play while learning. This helps in two ways, first it will help you create your own riffs, and second it gives you room to improvise over the backing tracks. It's a very good book for learning rock guitar.

If you often find yourself scrambling for convenient and suitable book, this product is your end point. It's great to have some tabs of Blackmore's solos as they appeared on the Nobody's Perfect album, but there are several notes in the tab that are just plain wrong. It gives you a lot of options for mixing in your guitar to isolate the playback with your playing. It has all the tabs and the notation. It is easy to learn the base of some really great music.
