The 436 can listen to basic encryption on analog devices or the more advanced p25 digital trunking encryption. The app is limited to your cellular signal, and it doesn't give you the control to fine-tune your frequencies. As far as the large display goes, the letters are very narrow and very thin and very crowded. The software needed is stored on board, and the card is expandable.
