These types of torsion springs provide lifting force for heavy garage doors and must be selected by the spring’s dimensions, rather than the door’s weight. It is not difficult to replace but spend time on the front end to make sure you get the right one and use the right tools for the job. One end has a cone with 2 bolt holes 180 degrees apart and the other end will have the winding cone with 4 recessed holes to use your adjustment bars to set the proper tension and then tighten down the set bolts.
These winding rods are used to wind and unwind the tension on torsion springs and they are the only tools recommended for this purpose. It fits the standard 1" od shafting. It has rings for clamping the spring to the bar that goes inside the spring. The spring will come COMPLETE with cones and ready to install.
