It is made from extra thick, 1/8-inch a2 steel for excellent edge retention, with a one-piece base and frog. It comes with a thicker blade made of a2 steel for increased edge retention that reduces "chatter. It is heavy and actually helps cut smoothly with almost no effort.

Grizzly has been making great plane for years, thanks to a combination of clever design and appropriate materials. Unlike blades that are ground on a blanchard grinder, this one is ground on a regular surface grinder, so it has a nicer finish, but because whoever ground it wasn't very good, it's bent. It is made with precision fit and finish. It is also crooked, so the front edge is not perpendicular to the sides.
This plane works well, with a flattened and honed stock blade. The frog is perfect and the adjustment is immediate when turning the wheel. It comes in a plastic bag in the box, full of oil and dirt, metal and wood shavings. It is easy to switch out and keep working without stopping to sharpen. The blade is a bit thin/soft and needs regular sharpening.Why We Like This:
