Compared with other guitar in this category, the mad catz rock band guitar has a convenient design. It's built exactly like the hard to find rock band 2 guitar, but is red in color and has some more upgrades over the rock band 2 version. It comes with an advanced tilt sensor for simple overdrive activation, initiating the game's score-boosting overdrive feature has never been easier. The 2-piece assembly promotes quick setup and uses minimal storage space when not in use.

This guitar is pretty sweet. It comes with a drum set (with el cheapo wooden drum sticks for the decent and functional, cymbal-less drum set) and the Rock Band 1 black and white, small plastic guitar. The feel is slightly different to the standard guitar but just different, rather than better or worse. The stand-alone is nearly identical in materials, weight, and durability, the only visible difference being that the original is shiny black and the stand-alone has a traditional "sunburst" design, not quite as shiny.
The first and most notable is the finish, the kit guitar is black & white while the standalone is sunburst. The overdrive sensor is much improved, setting off your overdrive immediately with no delay. It boasts better reaction times, easier overdrives, yadda yadda.
Why We Like This:
Retooled tilt sensor for improved overdrive deployment
Syncs fine, easy to play, looks good, sturdy and reactive
Works great, just as well as the guitar the game originally comes with

If you are looking at this guitar you probably already have the game, this is every bit the same as the one that comes with Rock Band 2 for the Wii. The frets on RB guitars are square and do not provide a lot of traction, which can lead to your finger slipping and hand cramps. It is easy to press buttons that are gentle on your fingers, none of the 'guitar hero nail' syndrome. It's very soft and easy to play.
The plastic does look a little cheaper than the previous RB2 guitar but it still looks good, you will love the blue color and it is still sturdy. It comes with a wireless donge and no major problems with the set up and syncing. Its automatic calibration is awesome.
Why We Like This:
3 aa alkaline batteries included / wireless connectivity
Improved strum bar for greater precision and accuracy / faster, quieter smooth-action fret buttons
