It is made of high carbon tool blade, 25 degree blade angle 1-58w x 0125t. The iron is heavy well machined and the adjustment knobs work very well. It is great for cleaning up end grain, small tear outs and edges. The back of the blade has a significant cup to it and it takes some time on the sharpening stones to get it flat enough along the front edge to be put to use. The sole is pretty much flat, only needed a tiny bit of work.
