These gloves are very tight fitting and stiff, great for protection, but take time to limber up for movement. They have a pretty thick stiff metal plate that protects the wrist and the palm of your hand. They are full coverage and the finger slots help to ensure they won't slip out of place and its actually kind of comforting to grip them when you're nervous about a new move.

There are supportive metal strips on the top of the hand and under to protect you from breaking your wrists, and they limit your range of motion pretty drastically. You can wear these loose or really wrap the velcro strip tight, they stay on almost too well, but they provide a pull loop to help get them off. It includes shock-absorbing foam layers with double stitching for durability.

The part of the glove that holds the brace is not made of leather, it is more like plether. These are great wrist guards for roller derby.
