It works well for bjj and fits great over ears. The chin straps are comfortable and easy for the kids to strap on their own as compared to the snaps that can be more difficult. The soft shell doesn't smash/gouge training partners while rolling, and they don't create a huge grip for training partners either. It does take some time to adjust the straps for a perfect fit. The velcro chin strip is susceptible to come undone during intensive grappling. It is easy to adjust to get a good fit.

The strap is extremely difficult to unsnap and snap. They stay in place as well as any other head gear.
