Best Overall: Celestron Best Eyepiece

Celestron Best Eyepiece
Buy on Amazon

This is the best long-lasting eyepiece on the market today. It’s really a great zoom eyepiece. It is finished, tracking by hand at high magnification is made far easier with a single multi zoom eyepiece. It comes with a focal length of 8 to 24 millimeters. It is quite clear and has solid adjustment. It gives a nice range of magnification.

This is a great eyepiece, it offers great field of view and it can be used with a t-ring for astrophotography. It is easy to bring in targets at different ranges. It is a little heavy and a bit stiff on the zoom function. It's versatility and build quality are both pretty fantastic.

Why We Like This:
  • Eyepiece improves view with the magnification
  • Optics are very clear and bright
  • Amazing eyepiece with excellent views of the night sky

Best For zooming: Celestron Eye piece

The celestron eye piece is capable of outshining several other products featured in this list in overall features for the price point. This eye piece is great for kids, too. It is great for occasional sky gazer. It has zoom capability and will lose some sharpness compared to an individual zoom piece. It is great for night viewing, not as good for bird watching during the day.

The nice part about this zoom lens is the long eye relief distance, meaning you can wear glasses or contact lenses, or, without glasses you do not need to jam the eyepiece against your eyeball. It comes with a nice hard plastic protective case which is a big plus. It is extremely useful in outreach setting with children. It's just much easier to use this zoom lens and the optical quality is excellent.

Why We Like This:
  • Easy to zoom in and out
  • Very good construction feels solid and views are very clear
  • Good investment for long term

Best For night Viewing: Celestron Perfect accessory

Celestron Perfect accessory

Best part: celestron perfect accessory costs comparatively low and it is available to ship in 24 hours. The 24 mm zoom eyepiece allows you to choose from a variety of magnifications in a flash. It is fast and easy, and lets you examine any object at various magnifications without requiring you to physically change eyepieces. Every part of it is great, it even has t-threads so you can photograph with it. It comes with a barrow doubler (2x) lens and some filters that are nice to have. There are threads on the inside of the eye piece and if you unscrew the top lens reveals the T-ring threads.

The convenience of doing quick zoom's to find and center on objects then switching to a quality lens or camera for viewing. It is great for locating an object then zooming in to center then switching to a quality lens or camera for viewing. It is nice to be able to easily find planets and then zoom in on them, rather than switching out eye pieces.

Why We Like This:
  • Nice to have around when viewing near by objects
  • Fits canon eos rebel t7i or other camera types with the appropriate celwstrom adapter
  • Very sharp and clear through its full range

Best For refractor: Celestron Zoom Eyepiece

Celestron has been making great eyepiece for years, thanks to a combination of clever design and appropriate materials. If multiple people want to capture a shot through your optic, Nexyz’s simple spring-loaded clamps make it easy to remove one device and replace it with another in seconds. It fits any eyepiece from 35mm to 60mm in diameter including telescopes (with most 1.25” or 2” eyepieces), spotting scopes, binoculars, monoculars, and microscopes. It features a 40 to 60 degree field of view and 15 to 18 millimeter eye relief. It will narrow in it's field of view as it magnifies the center.

The folding eyecup lets you view with or without glasses, and the field of view (40 - 60 degrees) works well for terrestrial observations as well as for views of the moon, planets, and deep-sky objects. The zoom lens is 1.25" so it can be used in the PowerSeeker 80AZS's erect image diagonal. It has a little better eye relief than the original eyepieces and with zoom you will have several focal settings in one eyepiece. This product is heavy and has some substance to it.

Why We Like This:
  • Great adjustment range and glass clarity
  • A great way to add extra horsepower to your telescope
  • Fits perfectly with standard scope receiver
  • High recommend over single mag lenses

Best For planet: Celestron Great Eyepiece

The celestron great eyepiece might be a relatively new release, but it's still nothing short of impressive this year. Use it for everything from close objects like the moon or bird watching to planet viewing, etc. The telescope tube (optical tube assembly, or OTA) collects light from the sky and creates an image that you can explore with the eyepiece. It allows to zoom from low to high power in an instant with this versatile eyepiece. It makes it easy to locate an object at lower zoom 24mm. The eyepiece is well made and nicely finished with a smooth zoom mechanism.

The eye relief at higher magnifications is also greater, allowing for more comfortable viewing. It is good for use with beginner scopes. For beginners, it replaces 3-5 eyepieces and allows one to really find the proper mag.

Why We Like This:
  • Heavy and well built with excellent clarity
  • Rubber grip is easy to use
  • Great for just looking at the moon, and them zoom in

Best For SCT: Celestron versatile Eyepiece

Celestron versatile Eyepiece

Compared with other products by Celestron, the celestron versatile eyepiece has a convenient design. This eyepiece is incredible and will handle any casual astronomer's needs. It's not perfect and there is a lot of chromatic aberration when using it zoomed way in at the 8-12mm level but when you are zoomed way out at 24mm, WOW, the view is astounding. It provides a slightly wider field of view, and slightly better sharpness. It has no threads above the lens and is just rubber. It is great for zooming, but will not replace a good set of eyepieces.

The zoom feature is great, even if it comes at expense of a diminished AFOV.

Why We Like This:
  • Easy to control, wide fov and adequate eye relief
  • Makes low power viewing very simple
  • Very smooth motion to transition from the different magnifications
  • Come in it's own protective case

Best For reflector Telescope: Celestron New favorite Eyepiece

The Celestron Travel 50 and 70 use standard 1.25" eyepieces so they can use any brand of 1.25" eyepiece. It is designed for 1.25" eyepieces, or with a telescope designed for 2" eyepieces with an adapter. The 40mm will give you some wide views, good for clusters like the Pleiades or Orion’s sword. The extendable eyepiece hood works great in keeping light from reflecting off the eyepiece when using it in a bright field.

The 10 mm eyepiece that comes with the scope is the highest power you can usefully use for bright planet viewing at 90x. With a 1200 mm focal length, the 7mm would be great for planets and 25 mm good for deep sky objects. The highest power omni 4 mm eyepiece will provide 1125x magnification.

Why We Like This:
  • 6 mm are bright and clear and maintain good performance across the field
  • Very sharp, excellent color of planets
  • Good brand reputation

Best Travel backup Telescope: Celestron included Eyepiece

Celestron included Eyepiece

If you are currently in the market looking for an appropriate eyepiece for your daily purpose, you cannot go wrong with this pick. A 6 mm eyepiece gives roughly 209x magnification, which makes things frigging huge but mighty dim. It is the perfect size to carry the telescope tube, the viewfinder (unmounted), the 45 degree prism (unmounted) and several eyepieces. The scope comes with a 32mm focal length eyepiece, which with a 1250 mm telescope focal length gives a magnification of 39x, which means that if you can see your 223 groupings at 6 yards with a naked eye you should be good.

The build quality of the scope is very nice. It's really too high powered for short range work on a shooting range. The included eyepiece is a 32 mm and gives you a power magnification of 39x. The image is nowhere near like illustrations from astronomy books but is quite a distinctive feeling to know that you are gazing at the real thing.

Why We Like This:
  • Easy deep space objects like the orion nebula can be seen faintly
  • Very good travel / backup telescope
  • Serves well as an entry level astronomical scope and rifle range spotting scope

Best For those: Celestron spotting Scope

Next on the list, we've got yet another product that manages to win our hearts. It's the celestron spotting scope and it's widely considered as one of the best convenient products you can buy. These have you ever wanted to capture images through your spotting scope. The ergonomic, dual-speed focus dial lets you bring your subject into razor sharp focus quickly. The scope is also pretty unusable at 30x zoom and above, and the image brightness drops precipitously and the focusing problems just absolutely compounds. The eyepiece can be removed and looks to be threaded to accept filters. It also feels well built, the images are sharp.

The eyepiece cover is aluminum. It is suitable for lower light levels. The scope is also filled with dry nitrogen gas and sealed, so you don’t need to worry about internal fogging of the lenses.

Why We Like This:
  • Nice cover to protect your scope
  • 5.56 holes at 100 yards in dim light, no problem
  • Excellent lens compared to bushnell legend

Best With Focal reducer: Celestron Great Scope

The Trailseeker 65 spotting scope will accept 1.25 " astronomical eyepieces to enhance your viewing experience. It features a rugged, armored exterior that provides protection against hard use in the outdoors. The angle of the 45 degree slanted eyepiece can greatly hide the face from view when spotting timid animals. The front and back ends of the soft case can be unzipped and held open with Velcro on the underside of the case. A rotating tripod mount allows you to position the eyepiece at a comfortable viewing angle.

The trailseeker 65 spotting scope will accept 1.25 " astronomical eyepieces to enhance your viewing experience. The 8 to 24 mm zoom eyepiece has a 1.25 " barrel, so it can be used with the Trailseeker 65 spotting scope. It provides maximum light transmission in dim conditions.

Why We Like This:
  • Good scope for bird and wild animals
  • Can use 1 1/4" eyepieces, carrying case included
  • Great value tripod with lots of functionality
  • Very bright, clear, crisp views of birds while birding, even on an over-cast day

Best For absolutely terrible focussing mechanism: Celestron Trailseeker Scope

Celestron Trailseeker Scope
Buy on Amazon

The celestron trailseeker scope is satisfactory and appropriate and fits well with your daily purpose. The Trailseeker’s premium optical coatings and its ability to accept astronomical eyepieces will give you an edge outdoors. It features normally found only in much higher priced spotting scope models, including a sliding sunshade, rotating tripod mount, and interchangeable eyepiece. It is coated with Celestron’s proprietary xlt optical coatings—the same coatings used on observatory class telescopes.

There is a metal cap on the eyepiece that needs to be screwed in, instead of a more sensible rubber cap, making it a bit challenging to use in rain. While the focussing knobs are on paper easy to use (with fine and coarse focus knobs), in the field, it is just absolutely terrible. These scopes’ robust, fully armored design protects them when out in the field and provides additional peace of mind that they’ll be ready when you need them. It is built with an easy on/off objective lens.

Why We Like This:
  • Allows the eyepiece to be set in any viewing position
  • Delivers what they promise
