The dorman valve cover gasket is cost-effective and fits well with your daily usage. The valve cover gasket is reusable but if you have wiring issues this will replace everything. It has a better clip and thicker wiring for the glow plugs. It comes with the wire stands under the valve cover, and the plug for the outside the valve cover, You do have to cut the wires and remove the old plug outside the valve cover, and reattach them to the new one. The harness wiring leads are molded into the gasket pass thru, hence no plug / mechanical connection to work loose and fail.

The gasket will fit physically, but you will have to convert from the 2 connectors per side setup that your 96 has to the SuperDuty 1 connector per side setup. This will fit either side of the truck.
