Stonehenge Aqua offers a variety of paper for personal choice and yet maintaining quality in all the variants. This paper has a nice texture for a dark background landscape that blends well wet on wet. It’s super strong, absorbent, and can withstand scrubbing. It can hold quite a bit of water before it warps. It is forgiving for watercolor if you use too much water. It is easy to remove from the block by cutting between papers with a thin blade. It tends to get a bit pulpy when it's too wet, and very easy to overwork at that point, but if you allow it to dry fully, that solves itself.

Cotton acid free and just a joy to work on
Colors are vibrant and lifts easily
Affordable cotton rag that's great for students and illustrators

The ArtBeek cold pressed cotton watercolor paper is really a good watercolor paper, it doesn't bead up when you have to correct or add layers of color. It is so much more enjoyable to learn to paint on 100% cotton than compared to even the top brands of wood pulp paper. It quickly absorbs water, keeping your paints looking as vibrant as ever with no bleed through.
This paper is decent for watercolor practice as it does work somewhat similar to other cotton papers but it is not 9x12 so when it comes to matting or framing it is not a standard size. It is pretty textured which is a nice look, but sketching or tracing on it isn't smooth. It is optimized for both wet and dry media, so you can create with any medium of your choice. It can be used in high concentration with very little water.
Why We Like This:
Definitely recommend for beginners that want to practice wet on wet
Excellent watercolor paper, great for beginners or pros
