Best Overall: Celestron Eye piece

If you often find yourself scrambling for good eyepiece, this should be your first option for buying. It allows you to zoom from low to high power in an instant with this versatile eyepiece. It comes with a barrow doubler (2x) lens and some filters that are nice to have. Its not perfect and there is a lot of chromatic aberration when using it zoomed way in at the 8-12mm level but when you are zoomed way out at 24mm, WOW, the view is astounding. The nice part about this zoom lens is the long eye relief distance, meaning you can wear glasses or contact lenses, or, without glasses you do not need to jam the eyepiece against your eyeball.

The convenience of doing quick zoom's to find and center on objects then hone in is really nice and for most planetary viewing this presents a pretty decent view. The zoom feature is great, even if it comes at expense of a diminished AFOV.

Why We Like This:
  • Fits canon eos rebel t7i or other camera types with the appropriate celwstrom adapter
  • Easy to control, wide fov and adequate eye relief
  • Easy to zoom in and out
  • Come in it's own protective case

Best For deep sky pictures: Celestron visual back

Celestron visual back

The celestron visual back's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. If you have a longer focal length telescope, like a SCT 8” at 2032mm, a focal reducer helps quite a bit on deep space images. This is threaded for use on Schmidt-Cassagrain telescopes, not Newtonians like the 130 SLT. If you are doing prime focus astrophotography with the 8se and an aps-c camera, this will allow you to fit the entire moon (or sun, with appropriate filter) on a single image.

This focal reducer is a must have for anyone doing astrophotography with the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. It is suitable for sc telescopes of higher focal length. This will allow you to do deep sky observation and short astrophotography exposure times.

Why We Like This:
  • Wider view for sun or moon with dslr camera t mount
  • Delivers what they promise

Best For Planetary Image: Celestron Apparent Field

The Celestron 93325 40 mm omni eyepiece ought to fit a starsense 8 " dobsonian without any difficulty, provided you use a 1.25 " eyepiece adapter ring. It makes a great jump from finder scope to observation, and then you can start narrowing the field with shorter eyepieces.

This 12 mm eye piece will give you above 100X magnification on your 4SE. It works well on lunar and planetary observation sessions. The harsh color distortion around the moon is gone and the larger glass and field of view means less eye strain. The eyepiece is well made, comes with a short rubber eye cup to keep out stray light and a nice knurled rubber grip. This eyepiece works well in the slower scope, where it gives bright, sharp images.

Why We Like This:
  • High power for splitting close doubles, planetary viewing, and zeroing in on faint fuzzies
  • Contrast and field of view are quite good
  • Low power for finding and observing deep sky objects

Best With spotting Scope: Celestron Nexstar Eyepiece

Celestron Nexstar Eyepiece

It is an amazing eyepiece for observing globular clusters or open clusters, like pleiades, m13, m37, m38, or the orion nebula. It is good for viewing dim and large nebula or use as a "finder" eyepiece. The eye relief is awesome because of the adjustable twist-up eye guard.

This eyepiece has a protective hood which really helps using it with the celestron diagonal. It should work satisfactorily for viewing nebule if your skies are reasonably dark. The eyepiece’s main housing is machined from durable, high grade aluminum. The two eyepieces offer different magnifications for low and high powered views.

Why We Like This:
  • Inch focus housing and provide 83x magnification
  • Wide field view and good eye relief
  • Delivers what they promise

Best For planet: Celestron Great Eyepiece

The highest power Omni 4 mm eyepiece will provide 112.5X magnification–both will provide a closer view of viewing the moon's craters when good seeing conditions allow. It is designed for 1.25" eyepieces, or with a telescope designed for 2" eyepieces with an adapter. It is fast and easy, and lets you examine any object at various magnifications without requiring you to physically change eyepieces.

The 24 mm zoom eyepiece allows you to choose from a variety of magnifications in a flash. The image is very sharp and crisp and colors and details of the planets are clearly visible with a stable mount. It is good for clusters like the pleiades or orion’s sword. If the seeing conditions are calm and steady, the eyepiece will provide a high powered view. A good 18 mm or even a 25 mm eyepiece plus a good Barlow 2X will give you excellent views of planets.

Why We Like This:
  • You will get 180 times magnification
  • Good value, very good eye relief
  • Great quality of view, heavy and durable materials, feels good in hand, excellent fov

Best For reflector Telescope: Celestron mm Eyepiece

Celestron mm Eyepiece
Buy on Amazon

The celestron mm eyepiece is the best convenient product on the market today. For the novice to mediocre astronomer, these are a great choice. This eyepiece will work quite well on the 130mmEQ scope. It provides high power views of the moon and planets with wide field and good clarity. The best eyepiece to balance high magnification with a sharp image is 6.5 mm.

The 10 mm eyepiece that comes with the scope is the highest power you can usefully use for bright planet viewing at 90x. It can be effective for bringing out details on planets. It has a super-wide and bright view.

Why We Like This:
  • Very clear with good eye relief for comfortable viewing
  • A very good, relatively inexpensive eyepiece
  • Good investment for long term
