Best Overall: Celestron versatile Eyepiece

Celestron is known for creating practical and great eyepiece for people on the go. The Celestron 93230 8 to 24 millimeters 1.25 inch zoom eyepiece allows you to zoom instantly with your scope from 8x magnification to 24x magnification. It's just much easier to use this zoom lens and the optical quality is excellent. It comes with a sturdy individual case, easy to pack and attach. It is a little heavy and a bit stiff on the zoom function. It is well made and delivers solid performance.

This eyepiece is incredible and will handle any casual astronomer's needs. It's versatility and build quality are both pretty fantastic.

Why We Like This:
  • Very good eye piece for a begging amateur astronomer
  • Very good construction feels solid and views are very clear
  • Saves changing several lenses to work down to the power

Best For reflector Telescope: Celestron stock Eyepiece

The Celestron Travel 50 and 70 use standard 1.25" eyepieces so they can use any brand of 1.25" eyepiece. It will work with any telescope designed for 1.25" eyepieces, or with a telescope designed for 2" eyepieces with an adapter. The scope comes with a 90 degree star diagonal which puts the bird right way up but of course left is right and right is left with the star diagonal. The extendable eyepiece hood works great in keeping light from reflecting off the eyepiece when using it in a bright field.

There is a tradeoff point between image quality and brightness and in 6" aperture scopes this is not far beyond 150 power. The shorter focal length eyepieces (smaller number of millimeters) will give higher magnification. If the seeing conditions are calm and steady, the eyepiece will provide a high powered view. It offers a no-slip grip, even with gloves on.

Why We Like This:
  • Very clear with good eye relief for comfortable viewing
  • Good brand reputation

Best For SCT: Celestron Great Eyepiece

Most of the eyepieces from this series are very sharp with great field of view and crispy images. A good 18 mm or even a 25 mm eyepiece plus a good Barlow 2X will give you excellent views of planets. The 10 mm eyepiece that comes with the scope is the highest power you can usefully use for bright planet viewing at 90x. It is great for viewing saturn or jupiter and splitting double stars.

The highest power Omni 4 mm eyepiece will provide 112.5X magnification–both will provide a closer view of viewing the moon's craters when good seeing conditions allow. The eyepiece will fit your focuser. The 40mm will give you some wide views, good for clusters like the Pleiades or Orion’s sword. This line of eyepieces is an excellent value.

Why We Like This:
  • Very sharp, excellent color of planets
  • 6 mm are bright and clear and maintain good performance across the field
  • Good value, very good eye relief

Best For An entry level: Celestron New favorite Eyepiece

Celestron has been making great eyepiece for years, thanks to a combination of clever design and appropriate materials. The eyepieces that come with it are really cheesy and cheaply made. It will drift rapidly across your field of view so each time you adjust the scope you will lose seeing time while vibration settles out. With a 1200 mm focal length, the 7mm would be great for planets and 25 mm good for deep sky objects. It is also compatible with 1.25” star diagonals, focusers and barlows.

With a focal length of just 4mm, this eyepiece offers high magnification to get in close and observe objects when seeing conditions are stable. They are also much lighter and easier to work with.

Why We Like This:
  • You will get 180 times magnification
  • Great quality of view, heavy and durable materials, feels good in hand, excellent fov
  • New and hot release

Best For Your Scope: Celestron mm Eyepiece

The celestron mm eyepiece is capable of outshining several other products featured in this list in overall features in its price range. This eyepiece has all the features and performance of many higher priced eyepieces. It provides high power views of the moon and planets with wide field and good clarity. The best eyepiece to balance high magnification with a sharp image is 6.5 mm. It allows significant vibrations to rock the scope while viewing.

These X-cel LX EP's are excellent, great for viewing Saturn or Jupiter and splitting Double Stars. This is a VERY well constructed eyepiece. For the novice to mediocre astronomer, these are a great choice.

Why We Like This:
  • A very good, relatively inexpensive eyepiece
  • Max useful magnification for a telescope is generally 50x per inch of aperture
  • Delivers what they promise

Best For finding objects: Celestron upside Image

The celestron upside image's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. If you’re looking to do eyepiece projection photography, like with your phone, then yes you can with this eyepiece. This lens (Celestron X-Cel LX) is a bit up scale and really powerful for your scope, like putting rocket fuel in a Prius. It has extremely long eye relief which can take a little getting used to, but in the end is an advantage. It does have the threads to attach filters.

The X-Cel LX 12mm will give you 233x magnification with your scope, that's a nice middle range, not too high magnification or too low. It is good value for a wide angle eyepiece. It will make finding observing targets much easier.

Why We Like This:
  • Crystal clear in daytime and astronomical uses
  • Nice wide view, very clear and sharp
  • Good eyepiece with wide but comfortable field of view

Best For small night sky objects: Celestron Excellent Eyepiece

Celestron Excellent Eyepiece

Compared with other products by Celestron, the celestron excellent eyepiece has a convenient design. A lot of sky can be seen with this, and there is a crispness to the image. It is perfect to see the sky objects. The 32mm eyepiece with a 50 degree field of view is a vast improvement in brightness and clarity. The FoV is just slightly better than the tiny 4mm (about the same magnification around 200x) that comes with it but the eye relief is MUCH better which makes it a lot easier to use.

This is a five inch scope and usually the rule is about 50 or 60 power per inch of aperture is the maximum useful magnification. There are camera mounts to connect your camera to eyepiece projection images. The image is clear, no chromatic aberration, but is a little dim.

Why We Like This:
  • Makes finding you way around the sky enjoyable
  • Come in useful to spot the less easily visible planets and clusters
  • Optical quality is good with nice correction
  • Perfect for an 8 inch sct

Best For someone: Celestron Moon Filter

Celestron Moon Filter
Buy on Amazon

Compared with other products by Celestron, the celestron moon filter has a convenient design. There are two standard sizes of telescope eyepieces. It is an essential kit for a first-time astronomical telescope owner. The moon filter is much needed to reduce the brightness of the light at full moon, in order to see the hills and valleys on the moons surface. The black plastic carry case has die-cut foam inside to protect and cushion your accessories.

There are two (2) common sizes of eyepieces, 1 1/4" and. It is fully coated to improve light transmission and protect the optics. The 15mm is a great addition, but it has good eye relief so it works well with glasses.

Why We Like This:
  • A good starter kit for a child
  • Screw holes are elongated to suit most centres
  • Good brand reputation

Best For Looking At planets: Celestron Omni Eyepiece

Celestron Omni Eyepiece
Buy on Amazon

The celestron omni eyepiece should be able to handle its purpose and duties with ease. If you want a wider FoV than a 20mm Plossl provides, this will do it. It offers excellent field of view, eye relief, and exit pupil. It can be left up or folded down for better observations while wearing eyeglasses. The standard eyepiece is 25mm, this is 2.3mm, so it's a little over 10x the magnification.

This telescope has a maximum usable magnification of 269x. It is too much for a full view of the moon, however it does help take close-up photos of craters and seas on the moon. The 40mm omni eyepiece is 1.25" and is compatible with the AstroMaster 102AZ. It will work for any telescope that takes.

Why We Like This:
  • Large, easy to use and very easy to view with
  • Gives a nice field of view, a crisp image, and good magnification
  • Very high quality and much crisper image
  • Beautiful addition to the telescope supplied lens, doubles the magnification
