It is great for occasional sky gazer. Every part of it is great, it even has t-threads so you can photograph with it. There are threads on the inside of the eye piece and if you unscrew the top lens reveals the T-ring threads. It has zoom capability and loosing some sharpness compared to an individual zoom piece.

The nice part about this zoom lens is the long eye. It is great for zooming, and will not replace a good set of eyepieces.
